| The
Brookfield Bulldogs are a nonprofit select baseball program
offering competitive baseball to youths in the Elmbrook
school district. We provide Elmbrook Youths an opportunity
to play in leagues such as the Wisconsin State Youth
Baseball League (WSYBL).
In contrast to Elmbrook Little League, which consists of
several teams made up of Elmbrook youths playing against
each other, we develop and support very competitive teams
that play against other communities in southeastern
Wisconsin. We also participate in many tournaments
throughout the baseball season. Unlike Little League, which
consists of several different age groups on one team, we
have teams for each individual age group.
We also differ from Elmbrook Little League
in the size of fields we use and the pitching structure. The
age groups under 11 year olds play on 60-foot diamonds and
46 foot pitching rubber. At age 11 they graduate to
65-foot diamonds while maintaining the 46-foot pitching
rubber. A 70-foot diamond is used for the 12-year-olds
with a 50-foot pitching rubber. The 13 and 14 year-old
teams play on regular 90 foot diamonds with 60foot 6inch
pitching rubbers. Leading off is allowed for 12,13 and
14 year-old divisions. Balks are called in the 12,13
and 14 year–old age brackets. Rather than using the
Little League Rulebook we use the National Federation of
State High School rules, the same ones used by Brookfield
East and Brookfield Central high schools. All teams use live
pitching.
The
Bulldogs, founded in 1997 as a single U-11 team, added a
U-10 team for the 1998 season. Our goal is to promote competitive baseball with emphasis on
sportsmanship and community responsibility. We work
with the Milwaukee Brewers, Mike Hegans Field of Dreams,
Brookfield Central, Brookfield East and other organizations
to provide and develop clinics for skill development.
We encourage and provide year round training in pitching,
hitting and fielding skills. We do this with a
flexible program so that we do not interfere with other
activities during the baseball off-season. |

We stress
the responsibility of athletes to their community and to be
good role models. This year we are creating a
mentoring program encouraging our older players to become
mentors to our younger players. This not only helps our
players develop good baseball skills but also good
leadership skills and a sense of responsibility.
As members of the Wisconsin State Youth
Baseball League, we are committed to a competitive baseball
program that will feed into the Brookfield high schools.
The league consists of teams such as the Waukesha Firebirds,
Waukesha Blazers, Menomonee Falls
Falcons, Racine Ericksons, Hartland Hawks, Sheboygan Diamondbacks,
New Berlin Heat, New Berlin Magic, West Bend, Franklin,
Wauwatosa, Wisconsin Lutheran, Watertown, Lake County,
Muskego, Greenfield, Lake Country.
We also participate in many state
tournaments. Our home games are played at St. Lukes in
Brookfield, St. Dominics in Brookfield and Wirth Park in
Brookfield. League rules require that each team be made up
of youths from the same School District. |
